Synopsis:

Der Film agiert an der einstmalig realen Schnittstelle der Franz-Josefs-Bahn mit dem Verbindungsstück der Thayathalbahn von Schwarzenau nach Slavonice (dt.: Zlabings) (CZ) bis Jihlava (dt.: Iglau) (CZ), das 1891–1903 erbaut wurde.

2010 wurde diese Bahnstrecke stillgelegt, und 2017 wurde auf der Strecke von Waidhofen an der Thaya nach Slavonice ein Radweg eröffnet.

Als Schnittstelle ist der Teil eines Systems definiert, welcher der Kommunikation dient. Physikalisch gesehen ist eine Schnittstelle die Phasengrenze zweier Zustände eines Mediums.

Die analoge Doppelprojektion „Schnittstelle_Interface“ verweist auf ihre eigene Materialität und zugleich auf die Entstehung eines der ältesten Filme der Filmgeschichte – „L’arrivèe d’un train en gare de La Ciotat“ der Brüder Lumière. Zugleich bezieht sich die Arbeit auf die gesellschaftliche Bedeutung eines beweglichen Mediums, das zwischen Vergangenheit und Gegenwart pendelt.

Synopsis:

The Films „Schnittstelle_Interface“ are based upon an actual train junction, namely where the Franz Josef line interfaces with the Thaya Valleý line, the latter constructed between 1891 and 1903 to run from Schwarzenau through Slavonice to Iglau. In 2010, the line was discontinued and as of 2017, the stretch from Waidhofen/ Thaya to Slavoince was converted into a bike path and opened to the public.

An interface is that part of a systems in service of communication. Seen in physical terms, it is the conjoining or junction of a medium in two different states.

The analog double-projection „Schnittstelle_Interface“ refers to its own materiality, and to the genesis of one of history´s first films, L’arrivèe d’un train en gare de La Ciotat (The Arrival of a Train at La Ciatat Station) created by the Lumière brothers- thereby it also refers to the social impact of a moving medium passing between the past and present.
